April 6-April 9

Happy Sunday! Thank you for all your hard work this past week. I enjoy getting updates and pictures as the days go on. Next week you will find all of our class work on our Google Classroom. Please make sure you log on and submit week 1 and 2 packets by Thursday. Here is a look at what students will be learning next week.

Spalding: We will continue review our phonograms and spellings words. Spelling words are still review but in the coming weeks we will begin to add new words.

Sight Words: This week we will review word lists 1-4. A good way to practice is to make flashcards to ensure your child is not just memorizing the list order.

Literature:This week we will explore a Japanese folktale about courage, Momotaro: Peach Boy. We also talk about the qualities of a hero then write about a hero of our own.

Math: This week students will be introduced to numbers up to 40. Students will observe place value and practicing writing and identifying numbers.

Science: This week students will be introduced to a famous woman in science named Jane Goodall. She spent much of her life studying chimps in Africa so we will explore them as well! If you’re feeling up to it, students will make their own binoculars and go outside to explore and study the nature around us.
